Community participation in government

Community mobilization is a big challenge in todays administration. Government schemes, specially development related, requires community involvement, if implemented successfully. We organized a drive to mobilize and educate community against social evils with the help of NGOs, and Public representatives. Public ardently took part in the campaign and rural youth enthusiastically  attached themselves with programme and worked shoulder to shoulder with district administration. Issues which were raised with the public were anti drug addiction drive, family planning, law and order, school chale hum, fight against malnutrition, promote plantation and save environment. Interesting and most important part of drive was to communicate with local public in local dialect that is 'bhagheli'. My SP and myself collector Satna tried to adopt local dialect while interacting with public. We also tried to deliver all issues related materials and message of Hon'ble Chief Minister in Bhagheli. To make this campaign cost effective we promoted to take meetings and gatherings under trees or in community halls. We were close to villagers when both SP and Collector sit down on earth with rural habitants and listen their problems. In 10 days campaign District administration met 1.75 lac people and could able to send message of 'Aao Banaye Apna madhya Pradesh' abhiyan to approximately 18-20 lac residents of Satna District. During campaign around 80,000 people took oath for de-addiction and 35000 took oath to adopt family planning. We also selected 20-30 youth for further give impetus to the campaign under mandate of ABAMP. This programme was taken up under the aegis of 'Chalo gao ki or'. We are planning to take up part two of it. I thank and praise the positive support of media and hope for  better support and involvement in community programmes. I also eulogize all who directly or indirectly participated in the campaign either from govt side or from community.
